Part-time jobs aside from bringing additional funds provide an additional depth on a college student. It shows that the student is responsible, flexible, resourceful and resilient to juggle academics, work and play at the same time. Part-time jobs definitely can even boost one’s resume especially if the grades are maintained and proper jobs related to the student’s major are selected. Still, students should always consider the toll that jobs have. They are sometimes stressful, tiring and conflicting. Here are some of the things that students should remember while having part time jobs:

1. School is always first. Whether you are a earning a substantial amount, school should still be the priority. Part-time jobs are only done part time. You are studying for a full time job in the future.

2. Schedule your time efficiently. Don’t drive yourself to the edge by cramming your schedule. Set some breaks for transportation and some breather.

3. Make sacrifices. School and work are already heavy loads. Expect to make sacrifices especially in your social life and on some other aspects. Student now a day should learned how to make extra income even if their studying.

4. Admit when you feel overwhelmed. If you feel like there are too many things going on, ask your boss to cut some time. It is better to be safe than end up in the hospital due to exhaustion.

5. Select a job that is related to your major. If you want to make the most out of your job, choose one that is near your course such as assistant or support jobs.
